Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, is now a prosperous market town located on the banks of the river Cocker and the river Derwent. It has a wonderful selection of restaurants, tea rooms and public houses as well as antique shops, quality galleries and craft shops. After a hard days walking, treat yourself to a pint from the local brewery, a glass of wine or a quiet meal. There is plenty to occupy you in Cockermouth if those tired limbs need a days’ rest.

Cockermouth has its own leisure centre and numerous, conveniently situated, car parks. It is less than 15 minutes drive from Keswick which also has many attractions for tourists and walkers alike. Take Wainwright's ‘easy route’ from the centre of the town to admire the views from the top of Skiddaw or hire a mountain bike to explore the beautiful fells.

The West Coast, about 8 miles away, boasts industrial heritage with visitor attractions and beaches ranked in the top 50 in the U.K. Whitehaven Beacon Centre and Harbour, Maryport Aquarium, Steamboat Museum and Annual Blues Festival and Eskdale Miniature Railway. For those looking for a break from the climbing, golf courses abound around Cockermouth, both for the experienced and less experienced golfer.

A charming terraced cottage overlooking the parish church in the popular market town of Cockermouth. The cottage is warm and inviting, boasting original features such as exposed beams, while the addition of a four poster bed and multi-fuel stove create a cottage of character and olde worlde charm. A short walk away is the town centre, with its handsome Georgian buildings, newly refurbished market place and abundance of old pubs and eating places, making this an ideal base for exploring the western lakes, the Solway Coast and the bustling town of Keswick. A great cottage in which to relax and enjoy a romantic break at any time of the year.

One double bedroom with four poster bed. Bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and WC. Small kitchen and pantry. Snug sitting room with dining area and multi-fuel stove.

Storage heaters with multi-fuel stove in sitting/dining area. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, TV with Freeview, DVD player, radio, stereo/CD player, library of books/games. Power and initial supply of logs and coal for multi-fuel stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Roadside parking (with disc) beginning 30 yards from cottage, pay-and-display and free public car parks within 50 yards. One well behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shops 2 mins walk, pub 1 min walk. Note: Due to steep stairs, this property is unsuitable for the infirm.
